“One of the biggest Swedish pop-hopes right now” – METRO

“Immanu El is not only a project but – as sentimental as it might sound – an affair of the heart.” – VISIONS

“Immanu El excels in a myriad respects throughout. Absolutely
brilliant.” – IT’S A TRAP!

“Album of the week (MOEN). The closeness of atmospheric pop is thesecret of Immanu El. They come they come!” – VODAFONE LIVE

“Confronts the listener with a successful mixture of discreet stately
parts and eruptive moments. We recommend MOEN for fans of well
made experimental pop music.” – ECLIPSED

“If I think of Scandinavian postrock, Immanu El always belongs in
the front row” – WHITE TAPES

“Immanu El can sound fast, dynamic and graceful – by next moment
it’s hard and tearing, and sometimes even distressing. The trademark remains – the soft voice of Claes Strängberg gives Immanu El their distinctive touch.” – UNCLE SALLY’S

“Immanu El leaps over the threshold to the most talented quarters of postrock, where you can find a priceless presence. And they do it with heavy feet.” – GROOVE

**Know more about IMMANU EL**
IMMANU EL is a Swedish band with a sound of dynamic guitar and keyboard soundscapes, captive singing and with somewhat of a moving Nordic presence. The music is focused at varying dynamics in a wide spectrum of harmonic expressions and moves between presence and ambience. Originally the band was inspired by early post-rock and experimental music combined with pop and indie-rock influences. The ambition has ever since the start in their mid teens been to create something captivating, beautiful and sublime – but the ways of achieving this have always been evolving differently. With 2 albums and more than 150 concerts in 25 countries for the last three years, the band has gained a growing reputation to be one of the most promising bands from Scandinavia today.
IMMANU EL started as a musical experiment in 2004 by 16- year-old Claes Strängberg, soon joined by his twin brother Per and old childhood friends Michael Persson and Emil Karlsson. While studying in high school they started create music in an old barn outside the town of Jönköping on the Swedish countryside. The demo ‘Killerwhale EP’ was sold out and spread all over the world. After graduation the band signed with And The Sound Records, moved to Gothenburg and got two new members, David Lillberg and Jonatan Josefsson. Their debut album ‘They’ll Come, They Come’ was released the following year, 2007. And The Sound Records also released the band’s second album ‘Moen’ in the end of 2009, with licensingand distribution partners all over the world. More tours followed in 2010/2011. IMMANU EL’s third album will be released in the fall of 2011.

ANTI-FLAG TO RELEASE “THE GENERAL STRIKE” ON MARCH 20th, 2012. BAND ALSO ANNOUNCES FIRST TOUR DATES OF 2012.

“Get up! Your voices are needed!” Justin Sane shouts on Anti Flag¹s new studio album, The General Strike, which is due out on March 20th, 2012, on Side One Dummy Records.

The 13 tracks that comprise the bands 8th studio album are arguably their most aggressive to date. With influences ranging from hardcore to modern folk punk The General Strike is reckless and tight, aggressive, experimental and definitely sounds as pissed off as the bands feels.

The General Strike was Recorded and Produced by Anti-Flag at their home studio and is poised to be the sound track for the masses of dissatisfied private citizens that are currently protesting corporate injustice and governmental power around the world.

A song from the bands album titled “Neo-Liberal Anthem” is currently streaming on the bands Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/anti.flag.official)

The General Strike is also available for pre-order here (http://store.sideonedummy.com/)

Anti-Flag has also announced their first run of tour dates in support of The General Strike.

The art made by Baltimore artist Dan Deacon is about community and how to organize and inspire it. From founding a now well-known art collective (Wham City), to organizing and running an annually sold-out DIY music festival (Whartscape), to conceiving, planning and curating a massive 60 person/30 band tour (Baltimore Round Robin Tour), it’s clear to see that community and bringing people together is the major theme of his work. As Dan Deacon travels the world spreading his brand of joy, be sure not to miss the rich, dense, noisy dance pop that has become Dan Deacon’s signature sound, delivered in an unforgettable style.

Songs For Children are proud to present coolest breakthrough UK band of 2011 … slacker pop scuzz sensations YUCK !!!!!!!!
oh yes!!! :)

‘… one of the year’s most brilliant debuts’ NME

‘Yuck are worth hearing not so much because of who they sound like, but what they’ve done with those sounds: in this case, make a deeply melodic, casually thrilling coming-of-age album for a generation that never saw Nirvana’ Pitchfork 8.1/10

‘Grunge revivalists? It’s hard to dispute that – but 2011’s sweetest and slackerest have created a debut that triumphs purely through its heartbreaking pop songs.’ NME 8/10

Yuck, a band of no fixed hairstyle from London (Daniel – early MBV mop, Max – beardy/grunge, Mariko – heavy hipster fringe, and Jonny – afro) undoubtedly pulled off the best debut album of 2011. Yes, the band wear their hearts on their sleeve, Dinosaur Jr, Teenage Fanclub (Yuck have supported both) and Sonic Youth are all there, but what makes Yuck stand out is their ability to wrap up all these influences into the freshest sounding pop/grunge/scuzz that is the sound for 2012.

In true DIY style they self-produced and recorded their debut album at home, it was released to massive critical acclaim (Pitchfork 8.1, NME 8). Yuck have spent 2011 on tour; with sold out headline shows at New York’s Music Hall and London’s Electric Ballroom. They stormed the festival circuit playing Glastonbury, Reading Leeds, Bestival and Primavera Sound.

Supporting Yuck will be SFC faves, Hong Kong’s cult lo-fi noiseketeers – The Yours!

Lead singer Daniel’s Amazing Illustrations adorn the covers of all YUCK releases; and were reacently released as a limited edition art book: http://fatpossum.com/news/231

He’s agreed to draw Songs For Children an exclusive Year-of-the dragon Poster especially for the Hong Kong show!

In the 5th anniversary of the Hong Kong indie band Modern Children, they finally released their self-titled debut album “Modern Children”. In late 2011, the band used an unusual way to release their album – iPhone/ Android App. It was probably the very first free App album in the world, which contains 10 songs for free download. The feedback of the App was good. You can tell it from the 5 out of 5 stars rating by the apps users, as well as the download record of all around the world.

Modern Children will hold their concert named “Come Come Com Sun Live 2012” at Hang Out on 14th January 2012. The band is now spending lots of effort in preparing the show content, which includes all songs from their debut album, as well as some latest new songs and some unreleased old songs. In the show, they will bring all their iconic gears to give their passionate and epic performance. Besides, the band was pleased to have the famous local indie-pop one-man band the pancakes as their special guest in the show. Last but not least, physical copies of their debut album CD “Modern Children” will be selling in advance during the show with special discount.

White Noise is proudly to announce that Tokyo based Trio band miaou will be joining us in HK for a special performance on the 17th Dec to celebrate their 4th album “The Day Will Come Before Long”.
Miaou merge an electronic instruments, toy and samples alongside with guitars and drum, making music filled with swelling synths, spiraling melodies, post-rock atmosphere and IDM beats. Musically, miaou blend live Instrumental with electronic dream-pop like sound that somewhere in between Do Make Say Think, toe, Boards of Canada and Telefon Tel Aviv. Their full band set up crafts a multi-layered sonic soundscape capable of transporting the listener to another realm.
Watching their perform live is an experience. Let you always dreaming of things to come.
We’ve also just confirmed the great news that A quartet that aspires to craft soundtracks of life with melodic tunes, Silent Scenery, hailed from Malaysia has confirmed onto the stage also with our extraordinary local band More Reverb as supports for this show, we’re honored to have them both to play their show with us on the 17th.

Telefon Tel Aviv、Do Make Say Think、Boards Of Canada等Instrumental樂隊所影響,所以他們作品在Post-Rock基調上,再建設不同電子聲效,在緊湊的聲音的背後,還多添一份女性化的溫婉嬌柔,營造出飄逸夢幻的Dream-Pop氣氛。
Miaou出道作品是03年發表的《Happiness》,當時樂隊還帶著初生之犢的青澀味,及後經歷過跟Epic45、Tracer AMC、Below The Sea等海外名字同台演出後,樂隊迅速成長,《Make These Things Alright》和《All Around Us》兩張專集進入另一階段,把Post-Rock和Electronica音調合二之一,感覺流暢清爽。
今年,Miaou發表第四張專集《The Day Will Come Before Long》,邀請了Ben Holton (Epic45) 和Ben Cooper (Electric President/Radical Face) 客串主唱之餘,在Cornel Wilczek (Qua)處理Mixing下,Miaou比從前來得更纖巧細緻,輕易觸動心靈。
==================================================
miaou (Japan)
Miaou are a band based in Tokyo, formed in 2001 by Tatsuki Hamasaki and sisters Hiromi & Mayumi Hasegawa out of a university project and a shared love of Telefon Tel Aviv, Do Make Say think and Boards of Canada. Drawing from those influences Miaou went on to merge more electronic instruments and samples alongside their guitars, making music filled with swelling synths, spiraling melodies and IDM beats. Instrumental electronic dream-pop as seen from Tokyo.

Since the release of their debut album, ‘Happiness’, in 2003, the band continued making new songs and touring though Japan with Art of Fighting, Epic45 and Tracer AMC. Armed with and ever increasing mountain of synths, toy instruments and a fender rhodes, the band released a second album, ‘Make These Things Alright’, and their ‘painted’ e.p., further blurring the lines between post-rock and electronica.

After their third album, ‘All Around Us’, came out in 2008, the band toured across Japan, into Taiwan playing the Formoz festival, as well as doing shows in Ireland and the UK. In between recording the band have contributed to compilations in Japan and the USA, and completed remixes for the likes of Sweden’s EF and Not Squares from the UK. Always throwing themselves into music, always dreaming of things to come.

Recorded in Tokyo in the Spring of 2011, The Day Will Come Before Long sees miaou push on into more electronic territory than before – bigger synths, broken up samples and glitchy guitars. Mixed by electronic extraordinaire Cornel Wilczek (Qua) in Australia and featuring some achingly beautiful vocals from special guest singers in Ben Cooper (Electric President/Radical Face) and Ben Holton (Epic45). Expect to hear swelling synths, crashing guitars and electronic beats making up miaou’s sonic soundscapes.

==================================================
Silent Scenery (Malaysia)
A quartet that aspires to craft soundtracks of life with melodic tunes, Silent Scenery, hailed from Malaysia, burst into the local independent music scene with their first single, Tale of a Wooden Door in 2007. The tune that consists of one soothing melody to another is what Silent Scenery about.
Their simple melodies, sewn together seamlessly, do not tell you stories but rather, leaving a space for you to craft a tale of your own.
In 2008, Silent Scenery went on to experiment with darker tunes with their first EP entitled When We Escape from the Moonlight. Silent Scenery first single, Closing Chapter of a Sappy Story received local radio airplay and they went on to tour Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore.
At the end of their tour in 2009, Silent Scenery immediately head back to the studio to start the writing process of their new material.
On May 2011, Silent Scenery announced that they will be releasing a full length album entitled These Still Moments in October, 2011. The band described the upcoming album as a total contrast of When We Escape from the Moonlight (2008) as they’d adopted a more lighthearted and optimistic approach in their new tunes.
Silent Scenery consist of Kit on guitar, vocal and xylophone. Ivan on guitar, vocal and keyboard. Seikan on drums vocal & percussion.

Body Check in concert! FeaturingThaddeus Kroomple and Jun Kung!

When Thaddeus Kroomple meets drumming guru Jun Kung, HK bassist Peter Scherr and American keyboard wizard Andrew Page, psychedelic funk magic will happen. Thaddeus Kroomple works with incredible musicians: Feist, Nine Inch Nails, Omar Hakim, Janet Jackson, Sex Mob, Tower of Power, Frankie Paul, Dennis Brown, The Barbarians, The Supremes and more, and is now performing with Hong Kong’s very own drum master Jun Kung in the band Body Check. Loaded up with funky psychedelia, this super-group is ready to take on the HIDDEN AGENDA LIVE HOUSE for two nights in December!!!

…Despite what the multi layered sound might tell you, everything you hear from Thaddeus Kroomple and Body Check on record and stage is played live. With innovative use of looping technology and vast experience mangling tones, Body Check effortlessly creates a huge sound, and makes you think there must be a whole army of musicians hiding backstage. A huge, funkdafied psychedelic orchestra posing as a rock quartet!

Thaddeus Says: “I’ve been a songwriter for EMI and a sideman for Nine Inch Nails, but before that I led an instrumental funk band called “Nome Sane?” with Tony Scherr on bass, Andy Middleton on saxophone and the great Brian Dunne on drums. I am returning to that music now, but in a new form: Thaddeus Kroomple and Body Check.”

Body Check is a starry group of top musicians from NYC and Hong Kong:

Bandleader Thaddeus Kroomple has performed and recorded with an impressive array of world-famous artists: Feist, Rickie Lee Jones, Nine Inch Nails, Marshall Crenshaw, David Grisman, Laura Branigan, Teddy Thompson, Ana Egge, Billy Martin, Chris Brown and Kate Fenner, Luther Wright and the Wrongs, Megan Palmer, Sharissa, John Robinson, Michael Bland, Omar Hakim, Janet Jackson, Paquito D’Rivera, Jenny Scheinman, Jonah Smith, Ric Firebracci, Will Lee, The Zen Tricksters, Jim Pin, and many more! Teddy’s composition and production chops keep him busy, with many major film credits such as Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, and Tallegeda Nights, and major label music releases to his name.

Jun Kung on drums and electronics: Jun Kung is hands-down, the most exciting musician in South Asia. His thrilling drumming and singing leaves audiences breathless. His pop production, arrangement and uncanny multi-instrumental skills have put him right where he belongs: at the top of the music industry. In addition to all this, Jun is an incredible band man: a true team player, and a very down to earth, friendly guy. Jun’s impossibly deep groove makes him a great catch for Body Check. Jun has worked with some of the best musicians on the planet, including: Bobbi McFerrin, Coco Lee, Tanya Chua, David Tao, Karen Mok, Alan Tam, Kenny B; Danny Summer, Eugene Pao and many others.

Peter Scherr is an American bassist/composer/musical strategist living in Hong Kong. Peter pursues musical excellence and inspiration in areas of unique interest. His focus is the realization of creative music concepts. One of his long-term goals is the establishment of a common practice of creative music in China, drawing on the talent of the most interesting improvisers from around the world. In addition, he has appeared on many recordings, and is the founder of the 1 Hour Music label, which produces creative music recordings. 1 Hour Music currently has nine titles available, and is planning the release of several new titles in 2012.

“Peter Scherr is probably Hong Kong’s best kept musical secret. He plays with the best of the New York and Sydney scenes, and he keeps quietly making some of the most interesting records and performances of creative music in Asia today.” -Ken Rhodes, Atlantis Monthly,

Songs For Children presents DEERHOOF Live In Hong Kong at Hang Out, 7th-Dec [Ticket are available Now]

Facebook event page

Songs for Children are delighted to present Deerhoof as part of their up and coming Asia tour!
Uncompromising, eccentric, brilliant how could we not like!

“If Ornette Coleman and Karen Carpenter had a child, that child would be Deerhoof. Deerhoof are, without a doubt, the greatest band I have ever seen live.” – Kliph Scurlock, The Flaming Lips

“Deerhoof are the best live band I have seen in the last 10 years… or, possibly, EVER… more importantly they remind me, like no other band (except for, maybe, Minutemen), that we -all- have the power to create and inspire using whatever instrument we can get our hands on.” – Lou Barlow, Sebadoh / Dinosaur Jr.

“Deerhoof is a great inspiration for me, listening to them is equally exciting and humbling, they are one of the few contemporary bands who seem to really love music as an art form and who seem dedicated to taking artistic chances, they can’t really be compared to anyone else, they are an absolute original and I am a huge fan” – Kevin Barnes, of Montreal

“Deerhoof is possibly my favorite band to see live! I personally find them to be life affirming and inspiring. They all kick ass individually as performers and musicians and as a unit they are a unique, thoughtful, and joyful musical experience.” – Yuki Chikudate, Asobi Seksu

Alcest is a French band created by Neige in early 2000. He began writing songs on his own but a few months afterwards Argoth (bass) and Famine (lead guitar) joined him and his solo project became a real band. “Tristesse Hivernale” Alcest’s first demo which was composed by
Neige and Famine, was released in 2001 by Drakkar Productions. At the time, the band played cold and melodic black metal inspired by the mysterious and melancholic atmospheres of the wintry landscapes. Just
after the release of “Tristesse Hivernale” Alcest turned into a solo project again since Neige decided to change of direction and concept in order to explore more intimate themes.

Alcest is now Neige’s testimony of the evanescent visions/memories he had as a child about a fantastic faraway world : a plane of existence bathed in a pearly light, beyond all terrestrial beauties, which could
perhaps be described as a sort of “intermediate stage” ; the soul would rest there between two earthly lives and would for some time be freed of the burden of incarnation. The first chapter of this journey
was “Le Secret” EP, which was released in 2005 by Drakkar Productions.
In 2007, Neige agreed to a contract with the German label Prophecy Productions and released Alcest’s debut album “Souvenirs d’un autre monde” the same year. In 2010 the drummer Winterhalter joined the band, Alcest released their second full length “Ecailles De Lune” and
started to perform shows in Europe and U.S.A. with a complete live line-up.

All music/lyrics/artwork are deeply linked to Alcest’s concept and aim at depicting that “place” and the ecstatic feelings one can experience there. This project is a real quest, a perpetual wandering through unknown regions, the hope of which is to shed some light on some
mysteries of this esoteric experience.

TWO GALLANTS

After a two year break, the San Francisco guitar-drum duo TWO GALLANTS will begin touring again this summer across the North America and Europe. The well needed time off came after 6 years of incessant touring and the release of 3 full length studio almbums and an acoustic EP. The band consists of childhood friends Tyson Vogel and Adam Stephens who met on their elementary school playground at the age of 5. Despite an initial disagreement and ensuing scuffle over the supremacy of White Lion vs. White Snake, the two have been best friends ever since. They have been playing music together in some capacity since 1994, when their parents made the mistake of giving them both electric guitars for Christmans. Around 2002, the two college dropouts found themselves with some time on their hands and silence to kill; and so with an acoustic guitar and a trap set they formed TWO GALLANTS in the basement of the Vogel residence. In an ongoing unspoken competition to out do one another, the intervening years have seen the two-piece increase their volume and gear ten-fold. The bands’ sound is somewhat of a syncretism of American old-timey roots music with the grunge and east bay punk of Tyson and Adam’s formative years. The last show they played together was headlining The Fillmore in their hometown in December 2008. In the two years since, both have released solo material under The Devotionals and Adam Haworth Stephens, respectively. But now they are looking forward to getting back to the haranging strident noise that fuelled them across the world for 6 years. Come see TWO GALLANTS perform in a town near you this summer and look forward to a new album in the not too distant future.
