石原裕次郎のドラムは実は白木秀雄が、敵役・笈田敏夫のそれは猪俣猛(当時若干21歳)が叩いている。
そのドラム・ソロ (マックス・ローチ的アプローチが聞ける)10数テイクを始め、松本英彦(テナー・サックス:劇中にも出演)や河辺公一(トロンボーン)らが参加したスイング・ジャズ～モダン・ジャズ演奏の数々を収録。日活所蔵6ミリ・サウンドトラック・テープを元に、映画には使用されなかったプレスコ・ナンバーまで全 53テイクを収め、公開から53年目にして初めてCD化。日本ジャズ史の新たな発見です。なお、裕次郎の主題歌は収録されていません。
